Into the interior

Adventure

Adventure on its own terms, by river, trail and small plane

In Guyana, the journey is often the adventure. Small aircraft, river boats and forest trails take you into places that still feel remote.

Adventure here is less about adrenaline and more about immersion. Flying low over the forest, traveling upriver by boat or walking a trail with a local guide, you come to understand the scale of the interior and how people live within it.

Rivers and forest

Rivers are the original highways of Guyana, and a day on the water can mean wildlife, waterfalls and riverside communities. Forest walks reveal medicinal plants, giant trees and the sounds of the canopy, especially in the early morning and at dusk.

On the savannahs, the experience opens up: wide horizons, long drives and night skies with very little light pollution. Hiking toward the hills or waterfalls of the interior can be demanding, and preparation matters.

Go prepared

Remote travel requires planning. Work with reputable, licensed guides, carry what you need and accept that weather and water levels may change the plan.
